One of the most powerful forms of entertainment is a story, particularly when it can inspire retellings in other mediums like music, film or video games. For example, the Scheherazade story from the Persian professional storytelling tradition has been retold by composers Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel and Szymanowski; director Pasolini made a film adaptation and there is an innovative video game inspired by the tale. As Bates and Ferri (2010) point out, entertainment is an activity understood objectively, involves communication between text and audience, requires external stimulus, offers pleasure and occurs in a passive form.
